The Constantian Behind the Strategies

Executive experience. Proven solutions. Personal commitment to your mission.

Hello, I'm Chris

I have spent more than 20 years helping mission-driven organizations win funding, first by spearheading growth for leading nonprofits and contractors in the international development and humanitarian aid sector, and later as owner of Constantian Strategies.

As a business development director, managing director, and chief growth officer for both established industry leaders and smaller organizations looking to scale in the international development space, I drove organizational strategy, set and met revenue targets, aligned external communications to growth, and oversaw entry into new markets. My teams won more than 200 proposals totaling $1.5 billion in funding. I also led multiple initiatives to build-from-scratch, improve, and refine those organizations’ proposal development processes, and I am credited for creating numerous effective and widely used proposal development approaches proven to help organizations win funding.

In 2022, I started Constantian Strategies to share what I’ve learned with a broader audience. Since then, I’ve helped more than three dozen international development and domestically-focused social impact clients— ranging in size from industry leading organizations to established small businesses to nascent start-ups—win over $1.6 billion in new funding. Through strategy advice; hands-on coaching of organizational leaders, proposal managers, and technical writers; insightful reviews; and delivery of trainings to more than 1,500 proposal development professionals, I have helped organizations understand what they need to do – not just to submit proposals – but to win them.

In previous lives, I was an English and music teacher, musician, and university lecturer in Japan, England, and Scotland, and I volunteered for a local ecotourism organization in rural Ecuador. I hold a BA in History and Government with a music concentration from Skidmore College, an MA in Politics from England’s Durham University, and an MPhil in International Relations from Scotland’s St. Andrews University.
